French Antique Company has dated this piece to the 1800s.
It dates from around 1800 and has its original mercury glass. Mercury glass was not made after 1840 and gives a sparkle and reflection like no other.
It has its worn real gilt (gold leaf) on gesso frame with an etched leaf design. Beneath the gilt is the lovely red bole and bare gesso showing through.
It has its original backboards.
