This beautiful box is 37cm wide and is truly a wonderful piece of craftsmanship.
The two cut glass inkwells are brass mounted and are in perfect condition and completely original.
The lower section unfolds to reveal a writing slope covered in the original blue velvet (very slight wear to the area around the join).
A sign of true craftsmanship is the screw heads all face exactly the same way!
This is a stunning cabinet and worthy of a place in the very best of settings. The figured walnut is simply the very best, and I can find no faults with it at all. Of course, it's 160 years old and will show small signs of use and wear, but there is no damage at all.
