French Antique Company has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
Very elegant antique French Louis Philippe gilt mirror in excellent condition.
It has its tall, real gilt (gold leaf) on gesso frame in a subtly etched floral and leaf design. There are no chips.
Mercury glass was not made after 1840 and gives a sparkle and reflection like no other.
It also has its lovely original oak panelled back.
This mirror would have been an overmantel above a fireplace in an elegant room but would look equally lovely hanging alone on a large wall.
