Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

19th-century French arched mirrors, often associated with the Louis Philippe period, are recognised by their rectangular shape with rounded top corners, simple moulded borders, and leaf gilding over a gesso base.

These mirrors were typically crafted with a solid pine or hardwood core frame, coated with layers of gesso plaster, and layered with silver leaf that was toned with washes or lacquers to give a soft gold or silver hue.

Authentic period examples display signs of hand-carved wood joinery on the backboard, natural wear or red/grey bole visible beneath the gilt layer, and characteristic oxidation or light foxing on the glass.

A large arched French mirror can be styled as a floor-leaning focal point in an entryway or living space, or mounted above a mantelpiece or sideboard to reflect light and add architectural balance.

Preserve gilt frames by lightly dusting with a soft, dry microfibre cloth or camel-hair brush, avoiding water, chemical cleaners, or damp cloths that could dissolve the underlying gesso.
