A superb late Victorian inlaid mahogany 8 day mantel clock with gong chiming on the hour and half hours, fully serviced and working c.1900. The large proportioned quality mahogany case cushion top with scroll design swept edges to each side. Decorative inlaid fruitwood swags inset with mother of pearl to the front of the case, brass lion mask handles to the sides and small splayed bracket feet to the base. Convex enamel dial with Roman numerals and blued steel hands, sat behind a matching convex glass, which is set in a hinged brass bezel. The 8 day movement by Gustav Becker with anchor escapement and gong chiming on the hour and half hours. Presented in excellent original condition with a rich patina, fully serviced and working. Measures 10'' wide x 7'' deep x 17'' high to top of finial.
