This miniature longcase clock dates to the 1930 Sheraton Revival period. Constructed from warm brown mahogany with contrasting satinwood inlay, the cabinet exhibits a stepped pediment, four circular starburst patera motifs on the upper section, a central circular aperture on the trunk, and an inlaid oval urn motif on the lower pedestal base. The piece houses a circular white glazed dial featuring black Roman numerals and a brass bezel. Measuring 49 cm high, 20 cm wide and 12 cm deep, the clock serves as a decorative timepiece suitable for placement on a mantelpiece in a study, library or living room.

A miniature longcase clock, often referred to as a grandmother or apprentice clock, is a scaled-down version of a traditional floor-standing tallcase clock designed to sit on a tabletop or mantelpiece.

Sheraton Revival timepieces typically feature rich mahogany veneers inlaid with lighter woods such as satinwood or boxwood to create intricate marquetry motifs like urns, fans, and starbursts.

Authentic pieces from this era demonstrate classical proportions, fine wood marquetry, clean geometric lines, and contemporary movement mechanisms encased in traditional cabinetwork.

Position the item as a focal point on a mantelpiece, bookshelf, or sideboard, pairing dark timber tones against neutral or rich wall colours to highlight the inlaid wood detail.

Keep the cabinet away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent wood shrinkage, and dust regularly with a soft dry cloth, applying natural beeswax sparingly to preserve the timber finish.
