An elegant late 19th century desk chair of French ''cabriolet'' form in the neoclassical style of the renowned Adam brothers, with the finely carved and pierced medallion-shaped oval back including classic Adam motifs including rams heads, a wreath enclosed sunflower and exquisite foliate carving. The beautifully contoured, carved arms are supported on typical curved uprights which allow the chair to be pulled close to a table, all over a magnificent rose upholstered seat. The chair is raised on tapering reeded front legs terminating in spade feet with original brass and ceramic castors and square outswept legs to the rear.Incredibly comfortable and in excellent condition, ready to place in the home. Structurally all sound with only some light aged wear and a desirable patina to the mahogany surfaces. The upholstery is in excellent condition.
