A Georgian toilet mirror is a small, portable dressing glass designed to sit upon a chest of drawers or table during the 18th century, typically featuring an adjustable swivelling plate and a small base containing storage drawers.

These pieces were predominantly constructed from solid mahogany or pine with fine mahogany veneers, often incorporating hand-cut dovetail joints in the drawer construction and brass turning knobs.

Authentic pieces often exhibit old mirror glass with subtle foxing or imperfections, hand-planed secondary timbers, traditional joinery such as handmade dovetails, and genuine period fixings.

This piece can be placed atop a modern console table or chest of drawers to add historical character, warmth, and reflective light to a bedroom or living space.

Maintain the timber using natural beeswax to nourish the finish, avoiding silicone sprays, and clean the mirror glass gently with a dry or barely damp microfiber cloth to protect the silvering.
