This Victorian desk chair dates from 1910 and follows a traditional gentleman's library style. The piece is upholstered in a warm taupe velvet-style fabric with classic button tufting across both the backrest and the generous seat. It incorporates mahogany elements including the armrests and the fluted turned legs, which are fitted with small ceramic castors. The chair measures 89 cm high, 64 cm wide, and 69 cm deep, offering a practical seating option for a home office, bedroom, or dressing room. The frame provides comfortable support with its curved buttoned backrest and padded scroll arms. The combination of the textured fabric and polished timber creates a distinguished aesthetic suitable for daily use in a study or workspace. The construction remains sturdy and ready for placement in an interior setting.

Victorian button-backed seating is defined by deep diamond tufting across the backrest and seat, padded armrests, and turned wooden legs often fitted with metal or ceramic castors.

Chairs from this era typically utilised solid hardwood frames such as mahogany or walnut, stuffed with horsehair and fibre padding, supported by coiled steel springs and covered in velvet or leather.

Authentic pieces display hand-stitched deep buttoning, period-correct turned or fluted legs, original brass or ceramic castors, and heavy hardwood frame construction beneath the upholstery.

Positioning a period upholstered armchair alongside a modern minimalist writing desk or within an eclectic reading corner creates a balanced contrast between traditional craft and contemporary design.

Vacuum velvet upholstery gently using a soft brush attachment to prevent dust build-up, clean spilled liquids immediately with a dry cloth, and apply natural beeswax polish to the wooden legs.
