We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

English Regency boxes, produced between roughly 1810 and 1835, are defined by classical proportions, sarcophagus silhouettes, and the use of exotic timber veneers such as coromandel, rosewood, and mahogany. They frequently feature delicate mother-of-pearl, brass, or bone inlays alongside cast ring handles.

These boxes were typically constructed with a solid timber core veneered in high-grade exotic woods like coromandel or zebrawood. Decorative elements incorporated polished mother-of-pearl, brass filigree, pewter stringing, and velvet or silk interior linings.

Authentic nineteenth-century pieces display hand-cut dovetail joints, original steel or brass locks, and natural wear around contact points like feet and lids. The coromandel wood exhibits a distinct dark band pattern with a deep, natural patina rather than a modern synthetic finish.

Place the box as a focal accent on an office desk, library shelf, or console table. Its rich dark timber and detailed inlay contrast well against neutral marble, matte paint, or glass surfaces.

Dust regularly with a dry, soft microfibre cloth and keep the item away from direct sunlight and humidity fluctuations to prevent veneer lift. Apply a light coat of high-quality beeswax paste annually to nourish the timber without damaging delicate inlay.
