Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

Maintain antique wooden furniture by keeping it away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight, dusting regularly with a dry cloth, and occasionally applying a traditional beeswax polish to nourish the timber.

The clean structural lines of a Windsor chair allow it to function effectively as a standalone reading seat or as a contrasting sculptural element paired with a modern dining table.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit hand-carved saddle seats, wedged tenon joints where legs pierce the seat, uneven patination from age and use, and traditional joinery methods rather than modern metal fasteners.

These chairs were historically built using a combination of timbers, typically employing elm for the solid carved seat, ash or yew for the bentwood bow and spindles, and fruitwood or pine for the legs and undercarriage.

A comb back Windsor armchair is a traditional seating design characterised by a high back with vertical spindles extending through a bentwood crest rail, resembling the teeth of a comb.
