Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Chippendale style mirrors are characterised by ornate fretwork frames, scrolling ears, asymmetrical or symmetrical rococo curves, and frequently feature a gilded bird, such as a phoenix or eagle, at the crest.

These pieces typically utilise solid mahogany or pine with mahogany veneers, constructed using scroll-sawn fretwork boards, joined with traditional glues, and finished with hand-carved or gilded applied wooden ornaments.

Authenticity is determined by examining the wood oxidisation, the presence of hand-cut joinery, old layered finishes, and the characteristics of the glass plate, which often exhibits minor foxing, distortion, or silvering wear consistent with age.

This piece can be mounted on a plain painted wall above a fireplace or console table to introduce traditional warmth, tactile wood grain, and historical contrast to contemporary minimalist spaces.

Preservation requires hanging the mirror away from direct sunlight and high humidity, dusting the carved fretwork with a soft dry brush, and cleaning the glass with a lint-free cloth without allowing moisture to seep behind the frame edges.
