A fine and decorative Victorian period glove box in the Renaissance Revival style. The box is made of metal, probably gilt brass, which has faded and worn to a wonderful bronze colour. The mounts are beautifully shaped and chased and the agate stones have a striking figuring. The interior is original and lined with cushioned silk with a loop in the lid that would have been to hold a glover stretcher. The box is a great quality piece with a wonderful faded look and good untouched condition. Probably made in France. C.1870.
