An exceptional example of a German ''Vienna'' style wall clock. The case is walnut with superb bookmatched walnut-burr veneer, decorated with ebonised mouldings and particularly elegant finials to the top and bottom, as well as delicately carved spandrels mounted to the front, all in great condition. It is worth noting that Vienna wall clocks with such elaborate detailing are hard to come by, and this example is very well balanced in design. The two piece white enamel dial sits nicely in the centre of the glass panelled door, with beautifully intricate steel hands, and the gridiron pendulum holds an attractive brass bezelled pendulum bob with enamel centre, showing R and A, for retard and arręt, slow and fast, the timekeeping being adjusted with the small nut to the bottom of the pendulum.
