Description

An exceptional antique burr walnut Queen Anne style cocktail drinks cabinet. This was made in England, it dates from around the 1920-30’s.

It is of amazing quality with some extremely beautiful and useful features.

There is fine floral carving all over the base and upper edges, with stunning burr walnut grain patterns throughout. The solid walnut legs have finely carved hairy paw feet. There are excellent brass mounts on the exposed door hinges, central plaque and drawer pulls, all with beautiful details. The interior is sycamore lined, with two removable glass shelves and a pull out mirrored serving slide.

There is a light inside, but because of its age, it’s not working right now, but any electrician could sort it out if needed.

We have revived & polished this cabinet, it is in excellent condition throughout for its age.

Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

The Queen Anne style emerged in England during the late 17th and early 18th centuries, characterised by curved lines, cabriole legs, and understated elegance, though revival pieces were frequently crafted in later eras.

These pieces typically utilise a softwood or hardwood carcass veneered with burr walnut, which is prized for its intricate, swirling grain patterns, complemented by solid walnut framing and brass hardware.

Authenticity is determined by examining construction techniques such as dovetail joints, wood ageing characteristics, hand-cut screws, and the type of secondary timbers used in the interior framing.

A traditional drinks cabinet serves as a sophisticated focal point in a modern living space, pairing well with minimalist upholstery, metallic accents, and styled glassware arrangements.

Preservation requires keeping the wood away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent veneer cracking, while dusting regularly with a soft cloth and occasionally applying quality beeswax.
