We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Georgian Chippendale dining chair dates from the 18th century and is made from dark brown Cuban mahogany. The piece possesses a serpentine crest rail above a pierced back splat, leading down to a newly upholstered drop-in seat covered in green fabric. Straight square legs support the base, united by a structural H-stretcher, and the dark wood shows visible surface scratches and wear from age. The chair measures 95 cm high, 52 cm wide, and 44 cm deep. Practical for everyday use, the chair functions as a single dining seat around a timber table in a traditional kitchen or dining room. The robust construction provides reliable daily seating while introducing period English country house character to an interior.

Dust regularly with a soft microfibre cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish annually to protect the original patina, keeping the piece away from direct heat sources.

Position it as a singular accent chair in a hallway or pair it alongside a minimalist modern dining table to create an eclectic interior contrast.

Look for hand-cut mortise and tenon joinery, hand-carved splat detailing, period-appropriate timber oxidisation underneath, and drop-in seat frames.

High-grade solid mahogany was predominantly used for its durability and rich grain, often paired with woven textile or leather drop-in seats.

Originating in the 18th century, Chippendale furniture is characterised by ornate cresting, pierced back splats, elegant proportions, and fine hardwood construction.
