Superb Arts and Crafts Copper Log Box

1900 - 1920
Description

Here is a huge Arts and Crafts copper log box - crafted in wood, and then covered in beaten sheet copper, with a hinged lid and standing on four little feet.

The copper has been beaten and planished, and has a stylised repousse flower on the top, and a zoomophic face to the front.It is fitted to the wooden carcass with copper rivets which form a lovely part of its design. The colour is rich and warm and has a great patina. I have left the box unpolished so that you may decide how you would like it to be displayed.

Standing 57cm tall at its highest point, sloping to 38cm at the front, 51cm wide and 45cm deep.As I'm sure you can imagine, this will hold a great number of logs and fireside bits and pieces - or it would make a really stylish storage box for anything you fancy.

The box is in good antique condition, being extremely strong and sound, and has the surface wear you expect from a well loved piece of this age.
