FAQs

Regency design refers to the British stylistic period spanning from roughly 1811 to 1820, characterised by a strong neoclassical influence inspired by ancient Greek, Roman, and Egyptian forms, often featuring clean lines, dark woods like mahogany, and delicate decorative elements.

These chairs are traditionally constructed from dense hardwoods such as mahogany or rosewood, frequently incorporating woven cane seating, steam-bent components, and precise joinery to achieve graceful curves and slender structural profiles.

Authentic pieces are identified through period-appropriate joinery techniques, hand-woven caning patterns, patination on the wood surfaces, and classical architectural motifs such as reeding, sabre legs, and top rails.

Pairing antique wooden chairs with a contemporary minimalist dining table creates a striking contrast that highlights the craftsmanship of the historic pieces while grounding a modern dining space.

Preservation involves maintaining stable indoor humidity to prevent the wood and cane from drying out or splitting, avoiding direct sunlight, and cleaning gently with a soft, dry cloth without harsh chemical polishes.
