Seating from the 1600s is characterised by robust joinery, heavy solid timber construction, and utilitarian forms often influenced by regional craftsmanship and architectural motifs of the period.

Master woodworkers primarily utilised native hardwoods such as oak, employing traditional pegged mortise and tenon joints to secure the structural framework without modern adhesives.

Authenticity is assessed by examining tool marks, hand-cut joinery, timber shrinkage patterns, natural oxidisation, and consistency in wear corresponding to centuries of handling.

Such historic pieces serve as focal points when paired with minimalist modern furnishings, allowing the aged texture and craftsmanship to stand out without visual competition.

To preserve antique timber, maintain stable indoor humidity levels, keep pieces away from direct sunlight and heat sources, and treat surfaces sparingly with traditional beeswax.
