Georgian furniture, spanning the reigns of the first four Georges, is characterised by classical proportions, sophisticated craftsmanship, and a transition from heavier walnut to dense imported mahogany.

Pieces from this era predominantly utilised solid West Indian mahogany, joined using traditional mortise and tenon construction, often reinforced with corner blocks and hand-cut dovetails.

Authenticity is indicated by tool marks from hand planes and saws, patination consistent with age, shrinkage cracks in the timber, and traditional joinery rather than modern screws or staples.

These pieces function effectively as focal points when contrasted against minimalist modern tables or used as occasional seating in a study to add historical depth and tactile warmth.

Maintenance requires avoiding direct sunlight and excessive humidity fluctuations, applying natural beeswax periodically, and cleaning surfaces exclusively with a soft, dry cloth.
