Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

French antique bedside cabinets from the 19th and early 20th centuries typically feature slender cabriole legs, intricate wood marquetry or parquetry veneers, and fitted marble tops designed to provide a durable and luxurious surface.

These pieces are traditionally constructed using a combination of solid secondary hardwoods like oak or pine for the internal structure, overlaid with exotic veneer patterns such as kingwood, walnut, or mahogany, and finished with cast gilt bronze or brass mounts.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetail joinery in the drawer construction, natural shrinkage cracks in the wood, hand-chased bronze hardware rather than modern cast fittings, and stone marble tops with hand-polished bevels consistent with period hand-tools.

Pairing this piece with contemporary minimalist furnishings creates a striking contrast; use the marble surface to display a simple ceramic lamp or a tray, allowing the traditional woodwork and hardware to serve as a focal point.

Clean the wooden elements using a soft, lint-free cloth and microcrystalline wax to nourish the finish, while maintaining the marble top with pH-neutral stone cleaners to prevent staining from acidic liquids.
