Driscolls Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the Regency era.
It has a curved, beautifully figured back with brass string inlay and an elegantly carved decorative back support. It has two moulded out-swept arms and stands on splayed back legs with beautifully turned front legs. It has been later upholstered in a soft pink upholstery fabric which is in very good condition. The mahogany of this antique chair is a rich dark shade with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
