Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Art Deco walnut sideboard from 1930 stands on short turned and reeded vase-shaped feet and displays a warm brown finish across its solid timber surfaces. The piece measures 129.5 cm high, 165 cm wide, and 51 cm deep, incorporating a tall central two-door cabinet with arched carved panels flanked by open shelf niches, drawers, and side cupboards. Decorative details include carved stylised floral spandrels, reeded vertical columns with flared tops, brass handles, and a scalloped apron along the lower edge. In a contemporary home, this sideboard serves as a practical storage unit in a dining room or living space, providing surface display area alongside enclosed shelving. The balanced layout accommodates dinnerware, table linen, or glassware while adding period character to the interior through its traditional woodwork and brass hardware.

Art Deco sideboards from the 1920s combine functional storage with geometric forms, stylized carved details, and symmetrical architectural proportions, often bridging traditional craftsmanship with modern decorative motifs.

Cabinets from this era feature rich hardwoods like walnut, oak, or mahogany, constructed using traditional joinery such as dovetail drawers, mortise-and-tenon frames, and hand-carved accents alongside brass hardware.

Look for period-appropriate construction features, including solid wood or thick veneer drawer bottoms, hand-fitted locks, authentic cast brass handles, and minor natural wear around touchpoints like handles and feet.

Position the piece in a dining room, living space, or entryway to serve as a focal anchor, pairing its dark wood tones with contemporary artwork, neutral walls, or modern table lamps to balance traditional and contemporary elements.

Dust the surface regularly with a dry microfibre cloth, apply high-quality beeswax twice a year to preserve the wood finish, and keep the piece away from direct heat sources and high humidity to prevent timber movement.
