Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

English Modernist Art Deco furniture from the 1930s combines geometric architectural forms with clean, functional lines. It frequently incorporates rich wood veneers, such as burr walnut, alongside glazed doors and stepped silhouettes influenced by contemporary skyscraper architecture.

Cabinets from this era typically feature high-grade timber cores faced with decorative veneers like burr walnut, maple, or mahogany. Construction often relies on traditional joinery techniques, glazed glass panels, and solid timber framing beneath smooth polished surfaces.

Authentic pieces exhibit signature period features such as stepped or asymmetrical profiles, original escutcheon plates, period glass glazing, and natural ageing on internal drawer or shelf lining. Smooth veneer application with symmetrical pattern matching is another hallmark of original craftsmanship.

A stepped Art Deco cabinet serves as a focal point in living or dining spaces when paired with minimalist backdrop walls and neutral tones. Arranging ceramics, books, or glassware inside the glazed sections highlights its architectural structure while keeping surrounding decor streamlined.

To protect walnut veneers, place the cabinet away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent fading and cracking. Dust regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish periodically along the direction of the wood grain.
