This 1930 Art Deco display cabinet measures 168 cm high, 98 cm wide, and 49 cm deep. Constructed from timber with a medium brown burr walnut veneer, the piece stands upright on four carved cabriole legs with pad feet. The upper section contains two glazed doors fitted with clear glass panes and blue, red, and gold reverse-painted glass advertising signage. This lettering reads pharmacy, druggist, herbalist, and perfume, alongside the name walton and son across the centre. The lower section comprises a pair of wooden cupboard doors with block lettering that reads balms, potions, elixirs, and pure herbal tonics. In a modern interior, this furniture functions as a statement piece in a living room, hallway, or study. The glazed upper cabinet provides display space for glassware, books, or collections, while the lower cupboard offers concealed storage behind solid doors. The warm timber tones and period advertising details suit traditional and eclectic home schemes.

A 1930s apothecary display cabinet is a commercial piece of storage furniture originally designed for pharmacies, drugstores, and herbalists to showcase remedies and cosmetics. These pieces typically combine glazed upper doors for merchandise display with enclosed lower cupboards for bulk stock.

Cabinets from this era were constructed using solid hardwood frames such as oak or mahogany, often faced with decorative burr walnut veneers. Glass panels, gilded or painted signwriting, and cast brass hardware were also standard components.

Authentic period pieces feature period-correct joinery such as dovetail joints, original glass glazing, and hand-painted or gold leaf lettering on the glass and timber. Modern reproductions often use printed vinyl graphics and synthetic veneers.

These cabinets serve as focal points in dining rooms, living spaces, or home offices to store books, ceramics, or glassware. The combination of glazed and concealed storage allows for both display and hidden organisation.

Dust the timber surfaces regularly with a soft microfiber cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish sparingly to maintain the wood finish. Clean the glass with a non-abrasive glass cleaner sprayed onto a cloth rather than directly onto the glass to protect gilding and woodwork.
