FAQs

Georgian country furniture, produced during the reigns of the Georges from 1714 to 1830, typically balances classical proportions with local craftsmanship, often utilizing native timbers and simplified regional interpretations of high-style urban designs.

These pieces were constructed using solid native timbers such as oak, elm, ash, and mahogany, joined with traditional methods like mortise and tenon joints, hand-turned spindles, and webbed upholstered drop-in seats.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-appropriate joinery such as pegged mortise and tenons, hand-cut secondary timbers, natural surface patination, and tool marks consistent with hand-tool manufacturing rather than modern machinery.

Pairing antique wooden chairs with a sleek, minimalist contemporary dining table creates a striking focal point, introducing texture, history, and warmth to modern living spaces.

Maintain antique timber by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent cracking, periodically applying microcrystalline wax to nourish the wood, and avoiding harsh chemical cleaners.
