Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

A cheval mirror is a freestanding, full-length mirror suspended on a swivel frame, originating in France during the late 18th century and becoming highly popular throughout the 19th century for dressing rooms.

These pieces typically feature solid timber frames such as pine, oak, or mahogany, often with hand-carved ornamentation, original gesso or painted finishes, and heavy weighted bases to support the pivoting mirror plate.

Authentic period pieces often exhibit hand-beveled glass with minor oxidisation, traditional joinery methods, hand- forged metal pivot hardware, and historical surface wear consistent with age.

An antique floor mirror adds functional elegance and reflects natural light, serving as a focal point in a bedroom, dressing room, or hallway when balanced with clean-lined modern furnishings.

Preserve the piece by keeping it out of direct sunlight to prevent paint fading or cracking, dusting with a dry microfiber cloth, and avoiding harsh chemical cleaners on both the painted wood and historical glass.
