Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Jacobean furniture refers to the design style prevalent during the reign of King James I of England in the early 17th century, characterised by heavy proportions, dark woods, and elaborate geometric or strapwork carving.

English oak was the primary material used by joiners and cabinet makers of this period due to its local availability, durability, and strength, often joined using traditional mortise and tenon joints secured with wooden pegs.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit hand-cut joinery, tool marks consistent with period implements, natural oxidisation, timber shrinkage, and wear patterns appropriate to centuries of use, rather than modern mechanical fastenings.

Such pieces serve as strong sculptural accents when placed in a neutral hallway or used as a standalone statement seat against a minimalist wall, allowing the historic craftsmanship to contrast with clean modern lines.

Maintain antique timber by keeping it away from direct heat sources and sudden humidity fluctuations, dusting regularly with a dry cloth, and occasionally applying a traditional beeswax to nourish the wood surface.
