We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

Georgian furniture spans the reigns of the four King Georges, characterised by classical proportions, elegant lines, and a transition from heavy walnut to rich mahogany timber.

Pieces from this era predominantly utilised dense solid mahogany, often featuring traditional joinery techniques such as mortise and tenon joints, hand-turned components, and steam-bent elements.

Authentication relies on examining the timber grain, tool marks, patination, and the construction methods underneath, as genuine period pieces show signs of hand-craftsmanship and age-related oxidisation.

Pairing a period wooden chair with a minimalist modern desk creates a striking contrast that highlights the craftsmanship of the antique while maintaining a balanced, functional workspace.

Maintain stable indoor humidity levels, keep the wood away from direct sunlight and heat sources, and periodically apply natural beeswax to nourish and protect the polished surface.
