FAQs

Regency furniture, spanning the late 18th to early 19th century, draws heavy inspiration from classical Greek, Roman, and Egyptian motifs, characterised by clean lines, classical proportions, and dark timbers.

These chairs are predominantly crafted from dense tropical hardwoods such as mahogany, often paired with traditional joinery methods and upholstered using horsehair stuffing beneath woven textile covers.

Authentication involves examining hand-cut joints, timber oxidisation patterns, tool marks beneath the seat frame, and the specific density and grain of the mahogany.

Pairing these classical wooden chairs with a minimalist modern dining table creates a striking contrast that highlights the craftsmanship of the period without overwhelming the space.

Maintain antique wood by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources, and treat surfaces periodically with traditional beeswax rather than modern silicone polishes.
