Treen refers to small, functional wooden objects made by hand before the widespread industrialisation of household goods, often spanning the 18th and 19th centuries.

Craftsmen typically utilised dense, highly figured hardwoods such as burr elm, boxwood, fruitwood, and lignum vitae to ensure durability and a polished finish.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-turned tool marks, natural patination from handling, shrinkage cracks consistent with age, and construction methods appropriate to the period.

These small objects serve as tactile decorative accents when displayed on coffee tables, bookshelves, or desks within traditional or eclectic room schemes.

Maintain the finish by dusting with a dry microfibre cloth and occasionally applying natural beeswax, avoiding water or chemical cleaning agents that strip the patina.
