This Edwardian musical longcase clock displays a deep mahogany brown timber finish combined with contrasting satinwood floral marquetry inlay, gilt brass hardware, and clear glass. The arched hood incorporates a swan-neck pediment with a central brass finial, fluted corner columns, and an engraved brass dial with subsidiary dials. The trunk contains an oval glazed viewing window showing three cylindrical brass weights and tubular bells, above a plinth base with a rectangular panel featuring intricate floral and basket marquetry. The clock stands 250 cm high, 55 cm wide, and 36 cm deep. Suitable for placement in a hallway, drawing room, or grand reception room, this tall grandfather clock functions as a striking timepiece with musical capabilities. The upright proportions allow it to occupy a vertical wall space while housing the internal pendulum and weight-driven movement. Its traditional English country house aesthetic integrates well with period interiors, heritage hallways, and formal living spaces where traditional timekeeping furniture forms part of the interior scheme.

Produced during the reign of King Edward VII between 1901 and 1910, Edwardian longcase clocks are characterized by elegant proportions, refined inlay techniques, and often feature revivalist influences such as neoclassical pediment styling and complex musical chiming mechanisms.

These clocks were predominantly constructed from rich mahogany or walnut frames, inlaid with satinwood or boxwood marquetry. The movements incorporated brass dials with engraved spandrels, glass door panels, and internal brass chimes or tubular bells.

Authentic pieces feature period-correct joinery, natural patination on the timber, authentic movement mechanisms, and hand-cut marquetry rather than printed veneers. Dials often feature secondary sub-dials for chime selection and seconds.

A longcase clock serves as a focal architectural anchor in entryways, stairwells, or dining rooms. Pair it with neutral wall palettes and contemporary furniture to create a contrast between traditional craftsmanship and modern design.

Keep the clock situated on a level surface away from direct heat sources and draughts. The movement should be professionally serviced and lubricated every five to seven years, while the wooden cabinet should be dusted regularly and treated with high-grade beeswax.
