This Sheraton Revival longcase clock dates from the 1890 period and takes the form of an exhibition quality musical floor timepiece fashioned from rich brown mahogany with satinwood inlay, glass panels and brass hardware. The architectural case incorporates a swan-neck pediment centered on a brass finial above brass Corinthian columns framing the dial, while the trunk door is glazed to reveal three hanging brass weights, tube gongs and a brass pendulum above a panelled base featuring satinwood marquetry decoration. The dial displays ornate brass spandrels, black Roman numerals and a small subsidiary dial, and the entire structure shows standard historical wear consistent with a restored nineteenth-century mechanical clock. Standing 241 cm tall, 51 cm wide and 33 cm deep, the clock operates on a mechanical movement that plays Westminster chimes on five long tube gongs.
