FAQs

Victorian furniture spans the reign of Queen Victoria (18371901), characterised by a revival of historical styles, rich dark woods like rosewood and mahogany, and intricate hand-carved details.

These pieces typically utilized dense hardwoods such as rosewood, walnut, or mahogany, assembled using traditional mortise and tenon joints, hand-carved ornamentation, and upholstered drop-in or sprung seats.

Authenticity is assessed through signs of age in the timber patina, hand-cut joinery, traditional hand-carving rather than machine moulding, and historical upholstery techniques beneath the fabric layer.

Pairing antique wooden chairs with a contemporary minimalist dining table creates a striking contrast that highlights the craftsmanship of the vintage seating while keeping the room feeling current.

Protect antique wood from direct sunlight and extreme humidity fluctuations, clean gently using a soft, dry cloth, and apply quality beeswax periodically to nourish and protect the finish.
