This Regency bracket clock is a striking example of period horology, taking the form of an ebonised chamfer-top case. Constructed from fruitwood with a black ebonised polish finish, the clock is decorated with gilt-brass trim, corner spandrels, and a dial surround. The case stands on small brass ball feet and is surmounted by a decorative brass pineapple finial. A white painted dial sits behind a glazed door, featuring Roman numerals, minute markings, and the signature of the maker J. Berguer Strand London across the face. Brass carrying handles are mounted to the sides, alongside a winding or adjustment key protruding from the left panel. The clock measures 51 cm high. Suitable for placement on a mantelpiece, sideboard, or desk, this timepiece brings period character to a traditional or eclectic interior today. The functional dial and classical proportions allow it to serve as a decorative focal point while maintaining its traditional timekeeping role within a living space or study.

Regency bracket clocks were produced in Great Britain during the early nineteenth century, characterised by clean architectural lines, neoclassical brass ornamentation, and dark timber finishes such as ebonised fruitwood or mahogany.

These clocks typically feature cases constructed from fruitwood or mahogany finished with black ebonisation, accentuated by cast brass finials, handle drops, and feet, along with brass fusee clockwork mechanisms.

Authentic Regency bracket clocks feature original twin-fusee movement construction, hand-engraved or painted dials often signed by London clockmakers, period-correct brass moulding, and appropriate age-related oxidisation.

A bracket clock serves as a focal point when placed atop a stone mantelpiece, dark wood sideboard, or library desk, pairing effectively with contemporary artwork and traditional architectural features.

Dust the ebonised case gently with a soft dry microfibre cloth, avoid harsh chemical polishes, keep the movement serviced by a qualified horologist, and place the clock away from direct sunlight and radiators.
