This eighteenth-century Georgian side table is handmade from dark brown yew wood with brass hardware, measuring 86 cm high, 75 cm wide, and 46 cm deep. The piece has an oversailing top with age splits and minor surface marks, and contains a single deep drawer fitted with brass swan neck handles and a keyhole escutcheon. Below the drawer sits a shaped, scalloped frieze leading to turned front legs with ring turnings, terminating on pad feet, while the rear legs are straight. The timber exhibits good original colour and patina with a rich grain finish. Practical for everyday use, this side table serves well as an accent piece in a hallway beside the front door, or as a small occasional surface in a living room or bedroom. Its compact footprint makes it adaptable for placement in narrow spaces or small corners throughout the home.

A lowboy is an 18th-century small table fitted with drawers, designed during the Georgian era to serve as a dressing table or side table in residential interiors.

Cabinetmakers employed native English hardwoods including yew wood, oak, walnut, and mahogany, combining hand-dovetailed wood drawers with cast brass handles.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-sawn timber elements, hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, original brass escutcheons, and natural patination across the wood grain.

A small Georgian lowboy functions effectively as a hallway console table or bedside accent, creating visual interest when contrasted with contemporary lamps and ceramics.

Position the furniture away from direct sunlight and radiators, wipe surfaces clean with a dry lint-free cloth, and apply beeswax polish annually to protect the surface.
