Very elegant, fine quality 19th century French Empire style gilt bronze ormolu hand held mirror with classically inspired decorative motifs typical of the Empire period. Topped with a victor's laurel and an Imperial eagle seated on an elaborate garland. Original mercury backed mirror framed by classical Empire designs. Delicate open work handle with winged torch, ribbons and leaf motifs. Paris, probably Palais Royal, Napoleon III period, circa 1870.
