A Very Rare Yew Wood Windsor Chair almost certainly made by William Wheatland who was the first chair maker to work from the workshop in the village of Rockley in North Nottinghamshire William was a Lay preatcher and built a Methodist chapel in the village around 1828 he left the village in 1830 but the chair making buisness carried on for many more years, this chair has the usual hall marks of a Wheatland chair crinoline stretcher shaped under arm supports and the back spindles mortised through the seat but it has the rare feature of the bulls eye turned back splats, THe condition is excellent.
