Here is a really sumptuous, intricately styled black lacquer chinoiserie wall mirror, dating from the late 19th / early 20th Century, and possibly French in origin.
The frame is carved in an oriental shaped design, and the black lacquer work features a young girl in a floral landscape, with butterflies and bands of scrolls and floral decoration. There is much gilding and hues of reds, creams and golds contrast beautifully against the rich dark lacquer.
The frame stands 69cm, high and 40cm across with the mirror measuring 41cm by 26.5cm inside the frame.
The mirror is in a lovely condition overall, but does show the gentle signs of age with the surface wear and small losses consistent with its years. Please study the photographs to see the mirror and frame in detail and if I can provide any further information or images, or you''d just like to chat it over, please don''t hesitate to get in touch.
