Royal House Antiques is delighted to offer for sale this stunning suite of twelve circa 1800 Gothic revival, hand carved oak dining chairs with early silk embroidered upholstery, most likely from France

These chairs were purchased by a private client over 20 years, they paid over £20,000 for them from a reputable antiques dealer

These are a beautiful original suite, the patina is as genuine as it comes, the warmth and wear of the timber is simply glorious. The carving is ornate and very much in the Gothic Pugin taste, its architectural and has elements of the palace of Westminster and various grand churches. The upholstery looks early, its silk thread embroidered depicting early lions, roosters and tress

Condition wise is exactly as you would hope to find for the period, there are some age related losses and timber shrinkage as you would expect, structurally they are 100% solid and sound
