We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A remembrance medallion was a commemorative metal token commissioned to mark individual milestones, family events, or institutional anniversaries. Prominent French luxury houses produced these items in precious metals or silver gilt for private clientele.

Vermeil consists of solid sterling silver plated with a layer of gold, providing the weight of silver with a gilded surface finish. These pieces were typically housed in custom leather-bound presentation cases lined with silk and velvet to prevent oxidisation.

Authentic French vermeil items from the late nineteenth century feature French silver hallmarks, such as the Minerva head, along with maker stamps on the metal or stamped gold foil lettering on the interior box lining.

A boxed medallion can be displayed open on a desk, bookshelf, or console table alongside other historical desktop curiosities. Placing the open presentation case inside a glass cloche or display cabinet shields the silk interior while showcasing the metalwork.

Vermeil surfaces should be wiped very gently with a soft, dry microfiber cloth, avoiding abrasive polishes that strip the gold layer. Presentation boxes require storage in a dry, climate-controlled environment away from direct light to prevent the fading of silk and leather.
