As you can see from the images, this is a particularly good example of a 19th Century elm and beech captain's bow backed chair. Who ever made this country chair really took some time and effort in its design and execution. It's very comfortable and inviting ,and after 160 years of use and enjoyment it retains a glorious surface patina. Now, after sensitive restoration this lovely chair will continue to entice future generations to sit for a while.
