Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

These 19th-century French industrial wall mirrors derive from architectural window frames, combining a large arched format with geometric glazing bars that divide the reflective glass. The construction employs heavy cast iron and glass finished with a distressed painted scheme that pairs crisp white painted framework against a terracotta-hued outer border. Weathered paint flakes along the iron edges, minor surface oxidisation marks the metal joints, and the glass shows faint silvering imperfections, all reflecting the piece's utilitarian history. Measuring 152 cm high, 189 cm wide, and 5 cm deep, the substantial proportions suit a prominent wall installation in contemporary loft apartments or industrial-styled living spaces, reflecting interior light while retaining the character of salvaged architectural salvage.

FAQs

An architectural French window mirror is created by repurposing vintage industrial, warehouse, or orangery iron window frames into interior wall mirrors by installing mirror glass behind the original metal glazing bars.

These pieces are constructed with cast iron or wrought steel frameworks, traditional metal glazing bars, and fitted modern reflective glass panes, often retaining layers of aged lead or oil-based paint.

Authentic pieces exhibit heavy cast iron construction, handmade joints or rivets, natural surface pitting, multi-layered weathered paint finishes, and slight structural irregularities consistent with age.

Designers position large architectural mirrors opposite natural light sources or entryways to create optical depth, simulate additional window openings, and ground formal dining rooms or living spaces.

Clean the mirror glass using a standard glass cleaner applied via a microfibre cloth, while keeping liquid away from the metal frame; wipe the painted metalwork with a dry brush or soft cloth to preserve the aged surface without stripping the patina.
