Description

Set of six fine quality mahogany dining chairs by Gillows of Lancaster. Heavy and substantial, with crisp carving. Stamped under the front rails. The design of this chair design is illustrated in the Gillow's Lancaster Sketch Book of 1823 but similar chairs are recorded as early as 1813. (See "Gillows of Lancaster and London" by Susan E. Stuart, volume 1).
