High quality set of 6 early C19th George IV period mahogany dining chairs attributed to Gillows of Lancaster.
Raised on reeded fore-legs with turned feet , the classically-inspired carved backs and lumbar splats with honeysuckle motifs and a central carved rose .
The design and execution giving a firm attribution to the esteemed cabinet-makers Gillows of Lancaster and London. Interestingly the central rose motif to the top rail bears a strong resemblance to the Lancastrian rose , the motif symbolic of the county and area.
Best quality grade of mahogany timber throughout with no damage , breaks or repairs . Excellent rich colour and patina.
Recently covered lift-off seats with a well-chosen patterned hard-wearing fabric.
