An exceptional pair of c19th French louis xv style gilt wing armchairs with original tapestry.
Beautifully carved frames and a very elegant pair of chairs, very decorative, but also comfortable.
The gilding to the frame has aged well, there is, as you can see, ageing to the gilt and you have a choice as to leave it as it is, or it can be restored.
The frames will be cleaned and I would suggest perhaps a gilt touch up, rather than full restoration, so as not to lose the charm and their originality...but your choice, please let me know and we can discuss it.
The carving throughout the frames is very good, they are a super quality pair of original c19th chairs...and not easy to come by!
The original tapestry is in excellent condition for the age, with really just one area to the seat cushion of the chair shown on the left, there is some marking there, but I will have this professionally cleaned, so will be greatly improved, if not entirely removed...otherwise, it is in r
...emarkable condition and has aged very well.
There is original silk to the rear of the chairs too, so they can free stand if required.
