A late Victorian tea caddy made from solid English Oak and mounted with silver plate fittings, a winning and highly popular combination.
The caddy sits of it''s original four bun feet and either side has a ring handle supported by a large domed back-plate. The box comes complete with a working lock and key, once opened the lidded interior is revealed.
Unmarked, boxes similar to this were made by John Grinsell or Daniel and Arter, both famed for the Oak and silver combination.
Victorian in era and dating to c.1890. Excellent condition, the footprint measures 7 1/2'' x 5'' x 5 1/4'' tall.
