Culvertons has dated this piece to the 1880s.
An unusual and decorative flag motif is carved to the central splat - suggesting it may have been a commission from a shipping or steel company.

The drop in seat is original; the hand coloured leather covering is a recent addition.
The castors are original, and they are in good condition.
Due to slight wear, the kite mark cannot be used to pinpoint the age of the piece
