A French late 18th C painted over gilt, walnut, Louis XV elbow chair. This nice and unrestored chair, has moulded and shell carved, tapering, cabriolet legs, on tapering feet, a padded cartouche shaped back, with floral crestings and it has a serpentine seat, with floral carved front rails, with an overstuffed seat. All the joints are pegged, one arm joint is in need of some attention.

This chair was originally gessoed and gilded, and in the 19th C was over painted in a grey green, which was fashionable at the time.
Original Retro
The 19th C fabric is in a worn condition, particularly on the seat and arms, but still retains the original horsehair stuffing.
