This nineteenth-century Victorian campaign mirror combines practical utility with classic woodwork. Constructed from rich walnut with a warm brown finish, the piece features a rectangular glass plate set inside a cross-grain moulded frame that pivots on an easel mechanism. The entire assembly hinges into a protective wooden case secured by a small brass latch and equipped with visible hinges on the rear support. Subtle foxing and spotting mark the surface of the looking glass, reflecting its age and history of military travel in the field. Measuring 43 cm high, 33 cm wide, and 43 cm deep, the mirror adapts easily to contemporary interior spaces. Placed upon a sideboard top in a gentleman's library, hallway, or bedroom, it brings an authentic travel accessory into everyday use. The adjustable easel frame allows the user to angle the glass as needed, making it both a decorative antique and a functional tabletop accessory.

A campaign mirror is a portable dressing accessory designed to pack securely into a protective wooden case for transport by military officers during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.

These mirrors were constructed using dense hardwoods such as walnut, mahogany, or teak, combined with brass hinges, latches, and silvered glass plates.

Authentic pieces feature hand-cut joinery, period brass hardware with natural oxidisation, early plate glass displaying light foxing, and functional folding frame mechanisms.

Position the cased mirror partially open on a sideboard, desk, or dressing surface to provide structural texture and historical narrative.

Clean the wood with a dry microfibre cloth and apply neutral beeswax polish periodically, taking care to avoid harsh liquid cleaners near the mirror glass edges.
